Chess sections and academies in Almaty 19
Almaty families usually meet chess through a section: an academy or children’s school with groups by level and tournaments of its own. The Zhansaya Abdumalik academy teaches in two shifts at its branches on Rozybakieva Street and in Samal-2, with groups running from level E to A+. Chess Empire spreads its branches over residential complexes such as Gagarin Park and Zhandosova 305 and plays its Liga B and Liga C stages at weekends. World of Chess on Gagarin Avenue, in Almaly, holds a professional group with a grandmaster three times a week.
Champion children’s club on Abay Avenue prints a full weekly timetable for ages five to seventeen, and Favorit at the Atakent grounds publishes a price per number of weekly lessons. White Rook, ABCHESS, McQueen and Chess House Almaty appear above all as organisers of qualifying tournaments for the third and fourth categories, and Kaissa Chess Art Center through its rated blitz events, as its own site was out of service. The Debut club, which hosts a Chess Empire branch, and the Alatau Creative Hub library, which ran a free summer circle, complete the list.
